Sue Fox studied Fine Art at Coventry to gain her B.A., but rather than pursuing an art career immediately, she spent the next 20 years involved in voluntary projects ranging from reforestation to commercial fishing in the US, Croatia and Brazil. Settling back in the UK in 1998, she began to work as a freelance artist, as well as a tutor in adult education around the Moorlands.
Her particular style of mixed media is something she developed while at Art College, and represents her most distinctive work. Typically comprising large paintings of a complex nature, they often depict foliage with small points of interest such as birds, insects, blossom or bright autumn berries. These things are delights in real life, and that delight carries into her artwork.
Watercolours are a more recent interest, and they showcase her fascination with the qualities of light; sunlit landscapes and exotic bird plumage are favourite subjects in this medium.
