Catherine Williams

Bio

Cathy Williams is a visual artist based in Nantwich, Cheshire. A former primary school art teacher, she went on to run her own after-school art business. She is also a member of Cheshire Artists Network and participates in other art groups and projects.

As she approaches the completion of her nine-year Open University Painting degree, Cathy is developing a series of larger-scale figurative narrative paintings in oils for a solo exhibition in May 2027. Working from reference images that suggest stories or provoke a response, she manipulates colour, composition and light to create atmosphere and deepen the narrative.

Alongside her degree studies, Cathy continues to experiment with different painting media and approaches, always seeking to develop her skills and extend her practice. Looking ahead, she is increasingly interested in finding stories within everyday life, capturing the people, places and experiences that reflect the world we live in. Through her paintings, she hopes to create a visual record of our time, preserving glimpses of contemporary life that may resonate with and offer insights to future generations. She explores how colour, composition and the application of paint can bring these stories to life.
